524 – King Sigismund of Burgundy is executed at Orléans after an eight-year reign and his brother Godomar is crowned.
1169 – Norman mercenaries land at Bannow Bay in Leinster, marking the beginning of the Norman invasion of Ireland. Many Irish will feel aggrieved at this for the next 850 years.

He became Consul in 195BCE, took part in the defeat of Hannibal at Zama, held command in Sardinia and Spain, and in 191 BCE assisted the Greeks in overthrowing Antiochus III at Thermopolyae.
