Means of execution over the centuries have included garrotting, the electric chair, gas chamber, firing squad, lethal injection and, of course, hanging. Perhaps the most grisly means of state sanctioned ending of life is the guillotine. It is, however, considered by many to be the quickest and most painless way of ending life, as death is instantaneous and, by and large, cannot be bungled. France had this as their means of execution until 1977. What do you think?
