One of the United States’ founding fathers and prolific writer and statesman. Franklin published the Pennsylvania Gazette and Poor Richard’s Almanac, a compendium of useful information. He was elected to the Continental Congress and submitted a draft plan of union in July 1775. In Paris he served as an ambassador of the nascent US country and secured the Franco-American alliance in 1778.
