German general. After early success in the First World War, he became Chief of Staff to Paul Von Hindenburg. The two effectively worked as a team, managing Germany’s war effort in the east and then, between August 1916 and October 1918, acting as effective dictators of Germany. Ludendorff later took part in Hitler’s failed Munich takeover in 1923.
